Why Tiny Art Keeps My Creativity Alive
Creativity doesn’t always arrive in grand gestures. Sometimes it shows up in the smallest spaces — a scrap of watercolour paper, a quick sketch, a moment between tasks, or a tiny ACEO that fits in the palm of your hand.
As a lace artist, my work often involves long hours of sculptural cord, intricate motifs, and slow, meditative stitching. Romanian Point Lace is bold, architectural, and deeply intentional — but it also demands patience. And patience needs balance.
That balance comes from tiny art.

Small Pieces, Big Impact
Working on miniature artworks gives me a creative reset. ACEOs are small enough to finish in a single sitting, yet expressive enough to explore colour, texture, and emotion without pressure. They let me play. Experiment. Breathe.
Tiny art keeps my hands moving even when my lace projects are in slow phases. It keeps my imagination warm. It keeps my creativity alive.
A Different Kind of Freedom
There’s something liberating about a 2.5 x 3.5 inch canvas. It doesn’t ask for perfection. It doesn’t demand a grand concept. It simply invites you to make a mark — any mark — and see where it leads.
Sometimes it becomes a soft abstract wash. Sometimes a bold shape. Sometimes a heart drawn by a child who wants to “help you put.”
These tiny pieces remind me that creativity doesn’t have to be monumental to matter.

How Tiny Art Supports My Lace Practice
Miniature artworks help me:
- test colour palettes for future lace pieces
- stay connected to daily creativity
- break out of perfectionism
- explore shapes that later inspire motifs
- keep my artistic rhythm steady
They’re small, but they’re powerful. They’re the sparks that keep the larger fires burning.
A Gentle Creative Ritual
In the middle of busy weeks, tiny art becomes a ritual — a moment of calm, a pause, a breath. It’s a way to reconnect with joy, curiosity, and the simple act of making something with my hands.
And in that way, these little artworks support everything else I create, from sculptural Romanian Point Lace to larger mixed‑media pieces.
Tiny art keeps me grounded. Tiny art keeps me inspired. Tiny art keeps me alive as an artist.

Lorena
