New York calling

New York calling

Hello,

I hope you all are doing great and life treats you well. I have been super busy on so many different levels and I find that there are not enough hours in the day to get it all sorted… If you are a mum, you know what I am saying!

I know my last blog post was in July and since then a lot has happened.

We are now mid-November and time is flying. Being a mum the kids come first before any business. So lace making comes in the second spot atm… With that said I want to share with you all what I have been working on in the last months.

I have been invited to take part in a gorgeous exhibition in New York, created by Let’s Curate. Find out more about them HERE and check out the amazing store FLYING SOLO

The designs above are in the Oceania section of the website!

Right now you can check out the exhibition right HERE Opulent Handmade Treasures

Please check out all the other jewelry artists taking part in it! They are very interesting and unique.

At the moment, while the exhibition is ongoing I am trying to finish a new underbust corset using a vibrant combination of orange, reds, and greens. As soon as I can I will update you with images. Rember Romanian Point Lace is all about staying calm and focusing on the fillings, the cord making, and connecting it all together.

Also before I go, I have been asked where to purchase the Digital Subscription series available. It; ‘s simple to visit the Digital Subscription series HERE and you can pick from Romanian Point Lace to Distance Reiki.

LV Spring Summer 2023 Menswear Collection with a touch of crochet

LV Spring Summer 2023 Menswear Collection with a touch of crochet

LV Spring-Summer Menswear collection 2023

I am always happy to see that crochet, LACE, and knitting are not forgotten in the fashion world… After the Balenciaga scandal, we all need something bold and colorful, and fun, so take a look at these pieces!
The whole collection is visible Here! (97) Louis Vuitton Men’s Spring-Summer 2023 Show | LOUIS VUITTON – YouTube
I love this collection, it’s colorful and well made of course with a lot of love for detail and structure.

The whole collection vibes very positive and the floral designs are simple, but with a lot of structure in a combination of traditional and Tunisian-style crochet. The collection celebrates not only a new era for LV but also for the late designer Abloh. Check his bio HERE!
The yellow brick runway and the colorful vibes, the flags, and the mood of this collection set a new milestone in the history of LV. What I love the most about it, you probably can guess is the handmade elements, embroidery, and crochet. But I also love the fact that in my opinion, all Gender can wear it! This collection tells you that everything is possible!
Enjoy the show!
Let me know in the comment below, what your favorite piece is!

Lorena

Ink & Lace Designs on the catwalk

Ink & Lace Designs on the catwalk

It has been a while, since I did a blog post or emailed a proper newsletter and this is for a good reason… I have been working hard to create a new collection for this year’s DesignerQ catwalk show. They had a gorgeous, 10th birthday so it was perfect to celebrate with a unique collection.

The collection is called Wild Orchids and it’s a lot of fun. Every piece is handmade in Australia and was a great integrated design, inspired by the national flower of Queensland, the orchid. I wish you all could have been there to see all the designers with their amazing creations. We had two runways shows and a great after-party.  A lot of great entertainment and fun!

If you follow my Instagram @inknlacedesigns you can see a lot of IG Stories on the event and a lot of new posts about it.

Here are a few images of the collection. I posted a few also in the latest newsletter, so if you are interested, sign up and receive 15% OFF your first order!

ALSO< if you are interested in the pieces from this collection or custom design please contact us via website or Instagram.
All these gorgeous models did a fantastic job running for all the designers and I have to say that everybody did a stunning job, to make the event a success. From the fabulous goody bags to the make-up artists and the catering, DesignerQ did a fantastic job planning the event.

The red carpet was fun and my little one had a blast dressing up and so it was good to see for her what happens when designers get together.

I started to work on the collection in March, after seven months of work creating and designing the WILD ORCHIDS COLLECTION, it can be finally available.

You, know each piece is an original, so if you are not a fan of the catwalk colors, no problem! Let’s make it your style!

From Dreamcatcher to stars

From Dreamcatcher to stars

Lace branches out in many directions from bobbin to tape, to point lace to Irish and crosses over from crochet to knitting.

Today I want to give a shout out to @nivitaknits on IG! She does an amazing job on keeping lace knitting alive. Past on from one generation to another Nivita Knits is giving lace knitting new vibes.

I strongly encourage you to check out her work!

This lady has a hand for fine lace knitting and can create gorgeous designs from dreamcatchers to stars, bowls, angels leaves, etc….

I am looking forward to receiving my Xmas decoration! Once it’s on my tree I’ll keep you updated!

When you purchase handmade, you purchase, love, originality, quality, and keep up with a little history.

In Europe this technique is called ajour. Ajour lace also it is know as Orenburg lace knit. It comes from Rusia  and it all started with a simple shawl. After that it was turned into thin scarfs and actually dresses. Catherina the Great, loved this technique so much that the woman who created the first ever shawl for her received the honor to have the knit lace named after her. It was knows as the Cossack lace. From Russia it reaches the UK and the Queen. In the late 1800th it reached the US. From that time on in the hands of Harriet Tubman it became very popular.

So you see lace knitting travels the world, so make sure you check her IG account out click HERE.

Karl

Karl

And it all started with her… the founder and genius of CHANEL, COCO CHANEL. After her, for decades KARL…. Like Chanel, as she was known as COCO, he was simply called KARL. Two unique and original people who truly changed the world and left us amazed and happy.

Now the Karl Otto Lagerfeld, passed, all we have left are his creations, that were so unique, controversial, like his runway shows and of course his quotes…. It got to a point where a new word was invented to describe his style , and opinions- KARLISM!

Yes, google it, and it will come up! I always admired his fashion and personal style. A true artist, that influenced my opinion in art and fashion of course. HIs style was even an excuse not to clean up my desk as a kid.

He had a lot to say, a man who kept for himself, in a world of art, books, and photography. I never illustrated or sketched his fashion, because simply I believed I was not worthy of this, simply because he did a fantastic job in sketch and product. But with that said I was a huge fan of his designs. He dived deep into the world of each collection he was inspired by and needed total privacy and solitude to create.

I always illustrated CHANEL perfumes and accessories…. It was and is my homage not only for COCO but also for KARL.

But now what comes next for the house of CHANEL? The new creative director is the Right Hand of the Maestro Virginie Viard. Click HERE to find more out about her! If she was the right hand I think we can only smile to what Chanel will have to offer in the near future! I am looking forward to see the next Chanel collection and so should you!

PS: Stay humble, charge your crystals and smile.  Also to honor KARL, check out the ETSY SHOP and get in touch for custom orders…. Prints related to Chanel and Karl Lagerfeld….
